Do we all know what the Pittsburgh wedding cookie table tradition is? It’s been well document – there’s even a wikipedia entry for it, crediting its origin to southwestern Pennsylvania. If you don’t feel like clicking any of those links, all you need to know is that in Pittsburgh, in addition to cake, weddings almost always feature a whole lot o’ cookies. Dozens. Even a hundred dozens… or more. Sometimes they’re baked by family members, sometimes they come from one of Pittsburgh’s fantastic bakeries, and sometimes it’s a combination of the two.
I’ve seen a lot of cookie tables. So when I say that Megan and Matt’s wedding had what I think was the most amazing Pittsburgh wedding cookie table I’ve ever seen, you know that this is saying something. Everything about this cookie table was remarkable. The sheer overall quantity of cookies. The variety of cookies. So many pretty cookies. Original cookies – like the iced cookies made to look like a slice of cake. And since Matt and his family are from Texas, naturally there were cowboy hat cookies, cowboy boot cookies, and cookies shaped like Texas. My favorites though were probably the iced leaves, featuring a blend of fall colors.
I had such a blast photographing this cookie table. Enjoy the photos.
