Previously on this blog: Cara and Justin’s Heinz History Center wedding. In that post, I shared the highlights of their wedding day – the people, the moments, the emotions – the story. But there’s so much more to see! Cara put together a phenomenal team of local wedding vendors and details that worked together to make her cocktail style reception organized, fun and beautiful. I’m thrilled to be able to share photos that show how all those pieces united to make one stunning wedding day.

Let’s start with the flowers, all created by the super talented Stephanie of The Blue Daisy Floral Designs. Here’s how Stephanie described her floral scheme…

From Stephanie:

Cara’s wedding vision was one that didn’t leave fall behind, but gently welcomed in the beginning of winter. We used beautiful deep burgundy toned flowers of various textures, paired with pretty pale pinks to add contrast. Dusty purple Amnesia roses provided a mid-tone and tied the dark and light colors together.

Cara’s bridesmaids wore steel blue dresses, so we used a traditional Scottish wedding flower, blue Thistle, to add that element to the flowers. Throughout the reception space, the variation of color was taken into consideration alongside the wonderful linens Cara selected from Mosaic.

Overall, Cara and Justin’s flowers were romantic and lush. Vessels with gold accents and lots of candlelight gave the whole space an intimate feeling.

Fresh Cut Prints

Next, the fabulous creations by Erin of Fresh Cut Prints. Erin was asked to create an invitation suite that drew on the Heinz History Center/Pittsburgh theme, that was also elegant, minimalistic, and had pops of color. She nailed it – check out the map and the admission pass. (Pretty nice perk, by the way, of being an invited guest to the wedding – free admission the day of the wedding to visit the History Center.)

Erin also created several large signs to be displayed at the hotels, ceremony, and reception. These were a great way to let guests know where to go and when to be there. I especially liked the one at the reception entrance that let guests know that this was going to be a laid back party with open seating – time to relax and have a great time!

Common Plea Catering

How about the food?! Common Plea Catering makes food that’s not just delicious, but looks amazing too. Check out the risotto station.

Cookie Table and Groom’s Cake by Bella Christie

It’s a Pittsburgh wedding… you know there were cookies. Of course there were cookies. But also… a groom’s cake. Justin loves Yuengling, so behold the fabulous beer bottle cake by Bella Christie!

Loved the combination of light and dark linens from Mosaic.

Live Event Painter Kimberly Harvey

Live event painter Kimberly Harvey took a few photos during the ceremony, which she then used as a reference point to create this beautiful detailed painting during the reception. What a neat idea!

Move Makers Band

Ok, so these last few photos aren’t details… they’re people. They’re the Move Makers Band! And it was their fantastic, energetic, upbeat performance that really brought this fabulous event to life and made it soar. What I loved about this band was that they were really engaged with the crowd. There was no distance or separation from the audience, everyone was up for this celebration together. I highly recommend this band!
