Food should taste good. But it should look good, too. I’ve always thought this to be true, maybe because as a kid I saw my dad always putting a little garnish of parsley on our serving dishes, even if it was just a little plate of scrambled eggs.
When food is being prepared for a special event, the presentation matters so much more. And Common Plea catering has got that presentation thing mastered.
Here’s what Director of Events Maggie Gooch has to say about how they approach their menus:
“A lot of our clients are looking for fun and innovative ways to incorporate some familiar foods into their event menu. Whether it be family favorites, or just really great comfort foods, it’s our job then to get creative with flavor and presentation. Everyone can do chicken and beef, so we are always working to stay ahead of the curve on different ways to offer those items to your guests. Everyone wants to add personal touches to their events, and the menu is a great way of doing that.”
For starters… check out these appetizers.
How about this beautiful plated entree? It’s a twist on beef wellington- filet with a puffed pastry lattice (instead of the traditional presentation of it being wrapped around the beef), deviled crab, and roasted vegetable couscous.
What I really love though are Common Plea’s food stations. The food is amazing, it’s interactive, and the presentation is so unique. Check out the steamy noodle station, with takeout containers for your noodle concoctions.
My favorite is probably the Southwestern station. You can pick from all kinds of fillings and toppings to create the taco of your dreams.
And how about this risotto station, with the enormous Parmesan wedge? Here’s Chef John hard at work.
You didn’t think I’d leave out dessert, did you? I admit, I get more excited about eating bread than eating chocolate mousse, but I won’t deny that the mousse and cupcakes are prettier.
