One of the best things – no, the best thing about my job is that I have the opportunity to witness very special, meaningful, emotional events on a regular basis. I can assure you that watching a bride and groom exchange their wedding vows, or seeing their parents looking on and wiping away tears, is not an experience that gets old. Listening to a bar mitzvah boy or bat mitzvah girl’s parents give their speeches about what their son or daughter means to them is my absolute favorite part of a bar mitzvah – there are some speeches I’ll remember forever.
From personal experience I can say that there’s no more moving, exhilarating, exciting life experience than giving birth. I’m thrilled to have had the opportunity to document the birth of my good friend Pamela‘s son, Luca.
A lot of people hear “birth photography” and say “why would you want to photograph THAT?!?!” To that, I say that birth photography probably isn’t what you’re thinking! Shooting a birth is all about storytelling, detail and feelings (not something to show in science class!). And, what’s most important – why you really want a photographer – is to capture the moments after the baby is born. It is a roller coaster of emotion, joy and love at first sight.
