What’s to love about having your wedding at First Baptist Church?
Just a block from 5th Avenue, this is a beautiful stone church with red accents inside. They have space for both the bride and groom to get ready – and unlike most church dressing rooms, the rooms are actually nice, with windows and warm wood.
Also, some churches seem to resent photographers, and view them as an annoying, disruptive intruders. When shooting a wedding, especially a church wedding, I aim to be as discreet and unobtrusive as possible. I certainly don’t want to be a distraction or interfere in any way, I always follow the church’s rules and treat everyone with respect. So it’s a bit upsetting when the church facilitators appear bothered by the fact that I have walked in the door carrying a camera – they’re annoyed before I’ve said a word or done anything!
Therefore, I’m delighted to say that this little rant does not apply one bit at First Baptist Church. The minister and all of the church staff couldn’t have been any more welcoming. The minister even showed me where there were doors to go behind the curtain of the altar and peek through. How wonderful! I hope to come here again.
