Why isĀ Mellon Park a good choice for wedding photos or an engagement session?
- One of my most favorite wedding photo locations in the whole Pittsburgh area!
- Iron gates, stone walls, a fountain, brick, plus beautiful landscaping and flowers. Many, many great photo options here.
- Spring is my favorite season here, but it’s beautiful in fall and summer too. Convenient to Heinz Chapel and St. Paul’s Cathedral, as well as Cavalry Episcopal and any of the Shadyside churches.
Any caveats?
- There are festivals here sometimes, so be sure to check the park schedule before you plan a session here.
Please don’t overlook what time of day your photo session will take place! Note that each photo has a not-particularly-attractive time stamp on it. Why did I put these ugly numbers all over these photos? Because time of day is critical to creating beautiful photos. And time of day is fluid depending on the time of year. For example, 6:30pm might be the perfect time of day for photos at the North Shore in May… but if you go at 6:30pm in November, it’s going to be dark. Be sure to consult a sunset calculator so you know when it will be getting dark on the day of your shoot. Better yet – ask your photographer!
